Support for Windows XP and Vista ends

Cliqz is based on Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Starting in mid-April 2017, Firefox will no longer support Microsoft’s legacy operating systems Windows XP and Windows Vista. Because we use the same codebase as Firefox, we have to follow suit. For security reasons, we cannot provide older versions of Cliqz browser that are compatible with Windows XP or Vista, as soon as Firefox stopped the support.

We advise to update to a newer operating system. That said, there is a potential alternative: Mozilla offers an Extended Support Release (ESR) of Firefox. While this browser version does not get any new feature updates, it receives the most important security fixes.

You can install the Cliqz extension for Firefox on ESR. Add HTTPS Everywhere and maybe an ad-blocker, and you’ll end up with a similar package as the Cliqz browser.
