Enables completely anonymous web search
We expect instant responses when we search the Internet today. Cliqz quick-search offers real-time website suggestions for your search queries. It does so without collecting or saving any personal data. However, the moment each single query is received, Cliqz needs to know where to send the answer to. Once the respective search results were returned, the recipient information (the IP address) is deleted. This method provides both speed and privacy.
Users who prefer to also hide their IP address from Cliqz can do so by sending their search requests over the Human Web Proxy-Network.
Searching via a proxy means ...
… that the queries you type on your computer will be sent to a proxy server first before being forwarded to the Cliqz server. The proxy encrypts the sender’s information making it unreadable for Cliqz. The search results are returned to you through the same proxy.
Please note: The detour via the intermediary takes more time, and thus slows down the search process.
How to enable "Search via Proxy-Network"
Click on the Cliqz icon in the browser bar. In the dropdown menu that opens, select “Search via Proxy-Network” and check the box “Take part”.
