As of the latest version 1.18.0, the Cliqz Browser for Windows is now available in a 64-bit version. Compared to the 32-bit version, it offers more stability and higher performance. The minimum system requirements are a 64-bit operating system (Windows 7 or higher) and at least 3 GB of RAM. What’s the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit?

64-bit applications can access more memory and are less likely to crash than 32-bit applications. The 64-bit architecture also provides better support for a security feature called Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR).

This security mechanism, which is an integral part of any modern operating system, is involved in preventing exploitation of memory corruption vulnerabilities. It guards against buffer-overflow attacks by randomizing the location where system executables are loaded into memory. This makes it far more difficult for attackers to guess the position of processes and functions in memory. If an attacker tries to exploit an incorrect address space location, the target application will crash, stop the attack and alert the system. In this way, ASLR contributes to general system security.
